During recent discussions in Hanoi, high-ranking officials from Vietnam and Japan have reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing cooperation between their ruling parties and legislative bodies. The meeting involved Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, a senior official from the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Hagiuda Koichi, Executive Acting Secretary-General of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
The two nations celebrated the ongoing progress of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and committed to intensifying political dialogue and parliamentary exchanges. This commitment follows Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to Vietnam earlier this year, which marked a significant step in their bilateral relations.
Nguyễn Duy Ngọc emphasized Vietnam’s robust economic performance and ongoing efforts in administrative reforms. He proposed that Japan could contribute by sharing its expertise in local governance and decentralization, thereby aiding Vietnam’s institutional development. Furthermore, he advocated for expanded collaboration in several key areas, including human resource development, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green transition, economic security, and quantum technology.
The Vietnamese official also highlighted the importance of fostering deeper connections between the countries’ parliamentary friendship groups and increasing exchanges among young lawmakers. Additionally, Vietnam requested Japan’s continued support for the Vietnamese community residing in Japan and suggested simplifying visa processes, aspiring towards a future of visa-free travel for Vietnamese citizens.
Hagiuda Koichi expressed his support for broadening bilateral cooperation, assuring that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and parliament are committed to promoting exchanges and joint initiatives in advanced technologies, digital innovation, and green energy. This mutual commitment underscores the growing strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, focusing on future-oriented collaboration.
